The Taste of Talent will be held this Sunday night - October 14 at 6:30 pm at Free State Mall. Tickets are $35 and can be purchased at the various locations mentioned in the Taste of Talent ad or at the door. Besides a wonderful feast prepared by Mare E. Monte and the performers giving of their talents, we will also have the largest Silent Auction yet! It's the perfect chance to get those holiday gifts from some of the favorite businesses in the area. You can get your holiday shopping done early and with a discounted price while having a great time. All proceeds will help advance construction. A lot of work has taken place since the last progress notes. We've been working on our Business Plan which will be submitted to the City Council for review. The construction continues until the rest of the materials arrive so our estimate completion timeline in now Thanksgiving. You will probably see the completion of the exterior portion of Phase 2 (the shell) before then as some of our Phase 2 work moves indoors. Any additional funding through significant public or private sources will allow this work to continue. Special Note: Gordon Stewart - our esteemed President has been nominated for the Outstanding Citizen Awards! I am one of many who are so very much impressed by Gordon and his commitment to this project. The volunteering of his architectural skills alone is worth approximately $250,000! However, it is his quiet, dignified manner that has helped this dream turn in to a reality. He has been such a joy to work with in this our seventh year. Mary Nusser The last exterior masonry opening is being filled in and by the end of next week the exterior masonry walls should be nearly complete. Interior masonry for Phase 2 is nearly complete now with only one wall remaining as well as the masonry column wraps on the stage. The roof installation is progressing having completed above the green room area and now in progress over the shop area. Metal wall panels needed to close in the building are scheduled to arrive on November 2. Permanent steel doors have been installed at the new school entrances. The windows are installed facing the cafeteria and some of the remaining frames are on site being installed. The catwalk over the audience seating area is near completion with wood decking having been installed. The mechanical contractor is installing the sound attenuation materials in the roof curbs and will set the roof top units next week when school is out. Ductwork should begin shortly. Fire protection sprinkler installation has begin over the stage and the materials for a large portion of the project are on site. Electrical wiring is being installed to support temporary and interim interior lighting. The electrical switchgear is installed and the electrical room passed an initial electrical inspection this week and now is waiting for the county inspector before scheduling a cutover outage with BGE.
